POLEMA introduced new materials for shipbuilding

Powder metallurgy plant POLEMA (affiliated to IMH) presented new developments in the sphere of innovative materials for additive technologies at V National Industrial Science and Technology Conference “Digital technologies of engineering and production in shipbuilding” that was held  May 16 in Severodvinsk  at AO “PO “Sevmash”.

The head of R&D department Anastasiia Kubanova told in her speech about traditional materials for wear and corrosion-resistant coatings and advanced materials for printing separate units. Among the most advanced materials are CompoNiAl-Mo5-3 powder for printing turbines, Super Duplex 25Cr alloy for manufacturing units and ships’ details working in the Arctic and at super-low temperatures.

Application of additive technologies in shipbuilding has really good perspectives. Mastering printing of large parts, owning a complex geometric form will allow to simplify their production and shorten the manufacturing and repairing ships time and to increase the industrial efficiency. Besides, additive technologies will let poduce some of the details aboard that will substantially quicken their  service and reduce expenses on logistics.
